This Livernois product is billet steel oil pump with gears for 2018-2023 Ford 5.0L Coyote modular 4-valve engines. The oil pumps on these engines are mounted on the front of the block and driven directly by the crankshaft. This design is OK, but it does subject the oil pump to all the harmonics that the crankshaft sees. The stock oil pumps use weak powdered metal gears, and tend to fracture and break when subject to harmonics. Broken oil pump gears will cause a loss in oil pressure, which can cause serve engine damage. Livernois has seen several cases of Ford 5.0L modular engines with superchargers added that suffer from oil pump failures. Based on this, Livernois strongly recommends billet oil pump gears be installed. However, do not put new gears in a worn pump. If you have a 5.0L 4-valve modular engine and are supercharging, rebuilding or repairing it, replace the entire oil pump assemble.

Broken oil pump gears will cause a loss in oil pressure and when you lose oil pressure serve engine damage can occur. This failure is most commonly seen in supercharged engines but can also happen due to detonation from bad fuel or a incorrect tune as well. Based on this we strongly recommended these Powerstorm billet oil pump gears be installed before a supercharger is added to Ford 5.0 modular engine. However we do not recommend putting new gears in a worn pump. So if you are adding a supercharger, rebuilding or repairing a Ford 5.0 modular engine we highly recommend you replace the entire oil pump assemble.
