3 BAR MAP SENSOR
A Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor for the 2010-2019 Ford and Lincoln has two specific responsibilities in the engine management system:
- Measure barometric pressure at key on.
- Report engine load to the powertrain control module.
The powertrain control module uses the information for proper air/fuel mixture control under performance-driving conditions. For example, a 3-bar sensor will handle a forced induction up to 29.0+ PSI of boost.
Livernois uses this measure and report to build more powerful and stable tunes. Customers wanting higher boost levels in the EcoBoost platform should consider this, as the factory sensor cannot read anything above 14.5 PSI. Some boost spikes can cause the sensor to rise above that.
*Not needed for Ford F150 EcoBoost applications.
To get the most powerful tunes for your 3.5L EcoBoost Ford Taurus SHO, Ford Explorer Sport and related platforms, a simple add-on of this 3-bar MAP sensor and Livernois EvenFlo thermostat is required.
